Darryl has ridden motorbikes his whole life – sport bikes, cruisers, and now dual-sport adventure bikes. Me – not so much. I had been on a motorbike a few times – but never riding my own. About 5 years into our marriage we decided to make riding a bigger part of our lives… and we haven’t looked back.
A few years ago now I was heading for a big milestone birthday – one of those BIG numbers where a major celebration was in order. After months of deliberation (Spain, Cancun, Austria?) we found the perfect trip for us: Riding motorbikes from LA to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico – the full length of the Baja Peninsula (and back too as it turned out).
Little did we know this trip would, quite literally, change our lives. From the friends we met, to the things we experienced – the food, the sun, the desert beauty – this was much more than just an adventure. It was truly the Ride of a Lifetime, planting the seed for this year-long journey and a new way to live our lives.
