You could say that we skew toward the analytical side – so when we started to think about this year-long adventure, we knew we had to have just the right equipment. Meet Marvin (aka Marvin the Martian) – our 2016 Airstream Flying Cloud travel trailer. It has everything we need, and nothing we don’t all wrapped up in a 25’ long silver aluminum wrapper. Sleek and aerodynamic – he’s the right kit to take us to the four corners of the continent. Now we just have to figure out how to fit 130 pairs of shoes into a 25’ trailer!

I’m Michele, and I have a problem with expectations. Setting my expectations too high for people, places, meals… you name it. I’ve somehow gotten in the habit of letting the anticipation of something be overtaken by . . . READ MORE
In this episode, my friend David and I go out to Garrett County, MD, just north or Gormania and camp for the weekend in the Potomac State Forest. One of the major reasons for going out there? The fantastic roads. Miles and miles of them. We start from the campsite headed north on Route 560 into the town of Loch Lynn Heights . . . READ MORE
Have you ever wondered what it is like back there in the trailer while you’re blazing down the highway at 70? Does the trailer shake like a grocery store during an earthquake? Here in the DC area, we don’t get much silence in our lives. Traffic noise, planes flying overhead, electronics buzzing all around us… there just isn’t much quiet when you live in the city. One of the best ways to find out about really cool camping locations is word of mouth – especially when it comes from your brother-in-law. He and his wife had taken a rock-climbing class at a place called Seneca Rocks – and that was all it took for us to be off on our next adventure! . . . READ MORE
We’ve been spending a lot of time at Rocky Gap State Park this summer fine-tuning our camping technique in preparation for “Darryl and Michele’s Excellent Adventure.” Just about every Friday we roll out of town, pick up the trailer and any last minute supplies . . . READ MORE
I come from a family that LOVES to eat – my Mom had a catering company when I was growing up and was an awesome cook. I was never really that interested in cooking when I was younger – but being in the kitchen helping my Mom all those years must have rubbed off on me because cooking is right up there with riding, hiking, and camping on the list of things I love to do . . .
