Hey there. My name is Fred, and I am taking my two humans on a great adventure this year around the country. I am going to post a lot of selfies on this page in all the cool places we travel to. So, keep coming back for cute pictures of me as we travel the country.
May 25, 2017 to August 21, 2017 – CAMP GOODWIN, Wasilla, Alaska Finally made it, after more than 6,000 miles across the country and through Canada, we made it. Our very dear friends, Ian and Kristina have offered up their driveway as our new home for the next several months. We will use this as a home base while we ride motorcycles through the mountains, hike, kayak, fish… Maybe even some whale watching. We have several things planned, including a week long bike trip to Dawson City, YT, an overnight camping trip in Denali National Park, whale watching, and a road trip to Homer. So stay tuned for updates in the BLOG about all the adventures.

May 24, 2017 – Leaving Whitehorse this morning very early, trying to get a head start ahead of all the traffic. The volume of RVs headed to Alaska and beyond has increase ten fold in the last day. From here, there is one road to get into Alaska, so everyone has to go through Whitehorse, then on to the border, and then Tok, Alaska. The last stop before real civilization in Fairbanks, if you turn north in Tok, or Palmer, Wasilla and Anchorage if you head south. We are headed south to Wasilla where Camp Goodwin awaits.
May 23, 2017 – The Alaska Highway from Watson Lake to Whitehorse was nothing short of amazing. Some of the best views and weather we have had the entire trip so far. My humans stopped to take a million pictures. It was fun. We did see our first wildlife today. Bison, bears, and mountain goats. Not one moose though. I guess they were all hiding in the woods. Whitehorse is a cool little town. Well, when I say little, compared to living in Washington DC, it’s little. But for out here, it has everything you need and more.

May 22, 2017 – Just a little over 300 miles to Watson Lake today. Road conditions were not too bad, but slow going as we started the section of the trip where we are in the mountains most of the day. Some of the best views of British Columbia and the Yukon so far. We ended up in Watson lake around 3pm local time in a campground called the Downtown RV Park. Basically a dirt parking lot, but it will get the job done for tonight, all for the low price of $40 Canadian.

May 21, 2017 – Headed out of Grande Prairie this morning, clear, perfect weather. Lots of easy driving this morning for my humans on the way to our next stop – Fort Nelson, BC. From what we have read there is pretty much only one place to camp for tonight, the Triple G Hideaway RV Park right along the Alaska Highway. Speaking of the Alaska Highway, on the way to Fort Nelson you have to go through the town of Dawson Creek, the famous Mile Zero for the Alaska Highway. We stopped and I got a picture of my humans. Aren’t they cute?

May 20, 2017 – Grande Prairie, Alberta. After a 610 mile day today (and yes, my little panda butt is killing me from sitting in the truck all day) we finally arrived in Grande Prairie tonight. We had planned on getting all the way to Dawson Creek, but that just is not gonna happen. I know it’s only another hour and a half down the road, but I just can’t sit in that damn truck any longer. Tomorrow the plan is to get to at least Fort Nelson, and possibly Laird Hot Springs. I have heard from several folks that Laird Hot Springs is a must see.
May 19, 2017 – Saskatoon. A wonderful town in central Saskatchewan. Again, we are always amazed at how clean and pretty the Canadian towns are compared to the US. Tonight we found a place called the Gordon Howe Park and Campground. Of course, it is Friday night, so the place was packed full of RVs with local families and their children enjoying the probably first nice weather they have seen since last October. The weather was clear and 70 degrees today. Can’t ask for a better weekend for camping with the family.
May 18, 2017 – Across the great northern Mid-West we go – headed toward Winnipeg. It’s a nice town – clean and pretty. The campground was yet another KOA on the far west edge of town along Canada Route 1, the Trans Canada Highway. My humans were in such a rush to get going in the morning that they didn’t even wait for me for the picture. I was in the bathroom getting my morning process done and I missed the photo. Oh well. Humans are so unpredictable.
May 17, 2017 – Pretty much a short drive down the road and we ended up in sunny Duluth, MN. (No not really – it was cold and rainy all day) The gentleman at the KOA campground said it has been raining for 4 days straight. Guess that explains all the water and mud everywhere. We pulled in kinda late, ate some dinner and tried to get a some TV going, with no luck. No cable and no TV over the airwaves. Guess it’s an early night then.

May 15, 2017 – Today a quick drive up the UP of Michigan to the quiet little lake-side town of Sault Ste. Marie. We are visiting the Kewadin Casino and Resort. And we are in luck – it just so happens that the casino has a very nice campground just outside the front door of the resort. A perfect setting in which to hang out and get a little work done before we head over to the resort for the show. Yes, a show. We drove almost 2,000 miles in the last two weeks to see Alter Bridge play in Northern Michigan. Awesome.
May 14, 2017 – We packed up and left wonder Nashville this morning at 7:00am to get an early start on the 497 miles we had to do today. It was a LONG, LONG day, but we finally made it up to Southern Michigan – Battle Creek to be specific. We are staying in a lovely campground called Camp Turkeyville. Tomorrow, we head further north into the UP of Michigan.

May 10, 2017 – Welcome to Nashville ya’ll. We love Nashville. Well, my humans say they love Nashville. I have never been before. Considered the Home of Country Music, you can catch some really great shows here, from Blake Shelton to Billy Ray Cyrus. We are also going to meet up with a lot of friends and family we have in this area – and we might even get some hot chicken. We are staying at one of the nicest KOA campgrounds we have ever been to. And it is always cool to see a few Airstreams in the campground as well – from a 30 Classic to a couple of 16 Bambi trailers. (A Bambi trailer is a small Airstream that has only one axle.
May 7, 2017 – Tonight we are staying in the Lookout Mountain West KOA, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains just 15 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. With 37 acres of Appalachian forest and beautiful mountain views, we are very close to tourist sites such as Rock City, Ruby Falls and the local area civil war sites. I hope to get the humans out for a hike tomorrow.
May 6, 2017 – Hard Labor Creek State Park is a 5,804 acre Georgia state park located between Fairplay and Rutledge. The park is named after Hard Labor Creek, a small stream that cuts through the park. The setting was beautiful and the weather was again – perfect. As a panda bear, I usually like the weather a little colder, but these 60 degree tempetures have been very pleasant.

May 2, 2017 – Rolled into Charleston, South Carolina today. We have a great spot at the Mt. Pleasant KOA. Here I am just hanging out in the shade with a drink. The weather is absolutely perfect today – not cloud in the sky and 80 degrees. They are taking me to visit our close friends the Carrettas later this week. That is always fun to see them.
April 29, 2017 – Today we made a quick 3 day stop in Columbia, South Carolina to see my human’s daughter Lexie and her boyfriend Matt. It was a fun visit. I can’t wait for them to join us on the road in some of the interesting places we are going to visit.
